Actor Keanu Reeves’s girlfriend, Alexandra Grant, has embraced her natural hair color after trying to dye it before. She previously shared photos from her youth, which displayed her dark hair.
Grant is a visual artist and Reeves’ longtime significant other. They first started as friends and collaborators before they explored a romantic relationship.
The couple made their relationship public in 2019 while making a red carpet appearance, walking hand-in-hand. In a recent interview, Grant gushed about her love, saying:
“He’s such an inspiration to me. He’s so creative, he’s so kind. He works so hard.”
However, when asked in a March 2020 interview whether she was interested in getting married, Grant said, “Over a glass of wine… I would love to tell you.” Still, the Ohio native mentioned that love is a very important part of who she is, and she values being in a relationship.
Grant, 50, is nine years younger than her love Reeves, 59, and has full gray hair – which she has defended in interviews. She once revealed that her locks started growing gray in her mid-twenties, and by her mid-thirties, she had full gray hair. In defense of her choice to keep her hair gray, Grant expressed:
…] We should all have more options as to what beauty is.”
In December 2019, Grant posted on her Instagram that she tried dyeing her hair after it turned gray but could no longer deal with the “toxicity” along the way. When she entered her 30s, she said she let her hair “turn blonde,” adding she embraces the fact that any woman can choose how they want to present themselves in different stages of their lives.
Grant also spoke about fitting in, saying she is six feet tall and has white hair, but that if she wanted to look anything like reality star Kim Kardashian, she “would have to have surgery removing about a foot off my legs.”
Although she has had gray hair for a great portion of her life, Grant once had brown hair and has shown off her locks from her younger days on social media. In May 2019, she paid tribute to her mom on Mother’s Day in an Instagram post and shared a throwback picture of them.
The snapshot showed Grant in her youth, rocking brown hair as she posed with her arms wrapped around her mom. She sported short hair with bangs.
Grant’s Instagram followers commented on her post, complimenting her and her beloved mother. “Genetics serve you two well!! And brown hair looks awesome on you!” wrote one person. Another stated, “Your mom and you beautiful,” alongside a heart emoji. While a third said, “Love this so much!”
Later that same year, in December 2019, Grant shared another picture from her youth posing alongside her group of friends from college. In the photo, she had a similar hairstyle from months before but with a bit longer hairdo. “I like the dark hair!” one Instagram user said about her appearance.
After deciding to embrace her gray hair, Grant said having a “choice” is important to her and that she believes that one should be able to do whatever they need to do to feel confident.
Grant, who taught at various colleges in California and shared that she also instills confidence in her students, divulged that if women choose not to follow beauty standards, then those beauty standards should be discussed.
